Creating an Account
Signing up when you're under 13
Your parent or guardian needs their own NorCal account to verify yours. Ask them to download the app or sign in on the web before you send them the link.
Create your account
Signing up starts the same way for everyone: you enter your email address and confirm it with a code. Nothing about your age is asked yet.
1. Enter your email
Type the email address you want to use and choose Send code. Use an address you can open yourself — this is the address you will sign in with from now on.
2. Enter the code
A six-digit code arrives by email within a few seconds. Enter it to confirm the address. If nothing arrives, check the spam folder before asking for a new code.
Your details
Next you fill in who you are. Your birth year is what decides whether a guardian has to verify the account.
3. Fill in your details
Fill in your name and birth year. Give your real birth year — it is used to place you in the right age groups, and changing it later needs help from an admin. A field with a padlock comes from your club's registration system and cannot be changed here — a team admin can change it on the team page.
The child-account notice
This screen carries a notice explaining that a child under 13 needs a parent or guardian with their own account. In the app a message also appears directly under the birth year, saying the account will need to be approved in the next step. That is expected — carry on and choose Next.
Ask a parent or guardian
Now you tell NorCal who your parent or guardian is, so they can be sent a link to verify your account.
Your guardian needs their own account, separate from yours. Do not enter your own details on their account, and do not sign up again with their email address — that would create a second account for you instead of one for them.
4. Enter your guardian's email
Enter the email address of a parent or guardian and choose Send link. They are sent an email with a link that opens the verification flow.
Which email should you use?
Use the address your parent or guardian actually reads, and the one they use — or will use — for their own NorCal account. If they already have an account, use that email so the two are matched up.
Waiting for approval
Once the link is sent, your account exists but cannot be used yet. The screen changes to show who the link went to and what happens next.
5. Tell them to check their email
The email does not always get read straight away, so tell your parent or guardian it is there. They have to open the link and complete the steps with their own account before yours works.
6. Choose "I've received the email"
Once they tell you they have verified it, choose "I've received the email" to reload your account. If it worked, you go straight into NorCal. You also get an email confirming the account is ready.
- Wrong email address
Choose "Change email" to send the link somewhere else. The old link stops being useful. - Nothing arrived
Ask them to check the spam folder. If it still isn't there, change the email address and send the link again.
What's next?
Hand the next guide to your parent or guardian — it walks through exactly what they see after opening the link.
